Would Backup Station be appropriate for this task? I can't see how to set up something like this from the NAS side. After syncing or backing up your drives you can use the built in Validator to make sure that your data is not corrupt. I've looked at doing this sync from the QNAP side. Either way, it's an unworkable situation. I can't see any obvious reason why some files are affected by this an others are not. Since ChronoSync utilizes lower level file system routines provided in macOS to manipulate the files during synchronization, the error numbers are the same error numbers being generated by these file system routines. When this synchronization is run, no files will be copied to My Empty Old Files. Not sure which since the affected data is not displayed by Chronosync. ChronoSync reports a variety of error numbers for problems that occur during a synchronization. This tells ChronoSync to only sync files that are less than 0KB in size. It seems the dates are still not correct, so the same process of processing multiple files happens on the next sync.Ī similar problem seems to happen with other attributes. On the next sync, hundreds or thosands of files get processed. Modification date remains correct, but the creation date gets changed on one of the files. ChronoSync and ChronoAgent for Mac will run natively on both Power PC and Intel-based Macs running Mac OS X 10.5 and higher. ChronoAgent for Mac is a separate purchase and sells for 10. One of the main cluprits is creation date. ChronoAgent only communicates with ChronoSync, meaning you need to have ChronoSync in order to communicate with ChronoAgent. The files themselves have not been changed, but various attributes change triggering the need for a sync. Once completed, files start to go out of sync within seconds. The QSYNC app tells you nothing except 'Scanning' which seems to be the most often notification, followed by 23/101 events 23 which means nothing. "Preserve Extended Attributes" is turned off. The Windows version is a little bit quicker and more reliable. Access permissions were causing me problems, so the sync ignores that as well. Propagate Deletions (checked by default) If checked, deletions made by the user on one side of the job are propagated to the other side. To avoid problems between the file systems, the sync it set to ignore invisibles. It's proving to be a challenge with the NAS.Ī bi-directional sync is set up between shared and local folders. Delete the default sync folder that BTSync sets up during installation. I have been using "ChronoSync" on the Mac for years to sync folders. RBS will not be able to help you configure BTSync or diagnose problems with it. The root folder of the volume has a shared folder that is mounted on the Mac via SMB. I have the QNAP set up with some volumes.
